What is a life worth? Democrats
If you think bush co. is gods gift to the nation, STOP reading! If you are a christian that follows jesus read on. If you are a conservative, this article is not for you. It will only lead to questions that disturb your finely crafted illusion. That being said,
I wanted to recap for a moment if I can. Given 2 very questionable elections? The first one by the supremes, so any further arguement in the face of the court is moot. Did to democrats go back to congress where it should have been fought for? NO, I would argue that corporate america told the dems not too. Of course the actual truth has been that al gore did win.

The second time in 2004. Much as I dislike saying the same thing over again. What were the dems. doing ? Possibly a few of the dems. with a conscience were wondering, what happened. It was stolen from under your noses and you did NOTHING again! Ohio was stolen, illegally and corporate america wins again!
The greens and the libertarians stand up to this, WHERE are the dems????

So here we are in the middle of a war, that even the president admits is based on a lie. There is no al qeada in iraq before the war. The only reason to invade is to posses or guarantee access to oil, period. A few iraqi will be helped but mostly not. The president as much as said the effort is not going well. Water and electricity are still below prewar levels. He goes on tv and basically says "MY Way or the Highway" yet again.
Now we have the latest revolations about spying on US citizens. A few puffs of air from the dems. The same people that continue to give democrats any last vestige of moral authority. I would argue Damn little of that. It is not at all suprising to the liberals of this country. We just assume that the president and the gop are spying on us. God bless randi rhodes, she seems to enjoy poking the democrats in the eye and she is one.
The democrats have abandoned the liberals and progressives of this country! The DNC may change- the hay in the barn every once in a while, but you are still sleeping out back. I urge you to examine your conscience. I am telling you the truth. Corporate america OWNS the democratic party! Just spend a minute looking at the sources of funding.

Can speak to the questions of what we believe more than my lousy pen. Please look at where we are and where we are going as a people. What is a life worth, mine, yours? Do the poor of this country even matter? Are the jobs we have going to stay or leave? The union has a home with greens, how much longer will you stay with the democrats? The few progressives left in the democratic party have to be crying out. When last minute attachments to defense spending include anwr drilling can you really expect anything different to come from the hill? I urge you to join us!

Yes, right. It is hard to believe the working poor and blue collar went over to the GOP but they did. I think it tells a revealing story about our country: a) much of the country is not paying attention b) the Democrats have done little to distinguish themselves from the Republicans and c) if our country spent more time with nature & community and less time in malls we would have a better nation and planet. I think a lack of concern and education has led to outright pilfering by corporate groups. For example, privatizing the military and war in Iraq by Haliburton. Most of the media is corporation controlled so they filter what news will be heard in our country. Outright propaganda and lies are taking place while our country sits by silently.
Politicians are not going to do much if no one cares. Ethics has been overruled by polls. If polls show Americans are not worried about high energy prices than Corporations gouge, and Congress sits back and befriends the companies. It is up to Americans to show an interest in politics and their way of life, otherwise we have this destruction that we have today.
One more thing, Southern Democrats were never very liberal, in fact many left for the Republican Party in the last two decades. The Democratic Party is a party of change and diversity. We have to fix the Party by being vocal and progressive. The Republican party is one of a unified dogmatic message. Some people prefer one message and solid unity, but not me. I think all authority needs to be challenged and accountable, otherwise everything goes awry. The Green Party is awesome. The only problem with the Green Party is they are small and would be more effective if they took over the Democratic party with their idealogy and people. :)

The money changers took over shortly after carter left office. It no longer represents people but instead represents corporate interests to the detriment of the folks that give it life. No one can say to me "I am a democrat" and still hold on to the notion that democrats represent the blue collar and working poor, the environment or decentralized government. The lag of time is catching up. Look at the green party!

Sandy thanks for the comment. I too grow weary of the lack of backbone. If the stakes were any higher then I cannot think of when. You have to admit that the overwhelming majority of democrats are republican lite. In big numbers! If the progressives are going to make a difference it is not with the corporate status quuo democratic party. I urge you to take a moment an really appraise what you see. What does your conscience say?
The green party holds out hope for regular working folk. The greens hold out hope for the economy, beyond a few rich cats getting richer! The greens hold out hope for the environment! The greens have a plan to create a new fair square dealing better america!
What do the democrats have left? More of the same?
Step out and examine the state of affairs? Is this really what we want for ourselves for the future, more of the same?
If the dynamic is going to change then folks with courage are going to step out and embrace the green party. The democrats are lost and I would argue have been since jimmy carter left office.

Sen. Boxer complained about Ohio and now she is urging impeachment of Bush for the wiretapping. It is extremely frustrating when one is in the minority and the otherside is bullying Nazis. Democrats have very little voice, except on the blogosphere. I am very frustrated too with all that has taken place.
On a better note, it seems after much cajoling from the left wing of the Democratic Party, things are starting to shift. The Democrats are finally growing a spine! Gasp! Its true.
Vote after vote comes down and most of the Party is sticking and voting in block, there are exceptions which drive me nuts: Sen. Landrieu, Rep. Lincoln Davis, Rep. Bart Gordon to name a few, but overall the Party is sticking together and really working on progressive change.
527 groups have had impact too. Move On sends out massive emails telling its readers to act and call the Congressman now. Filibuster Frist was a huge success and that started with grassroots sending a message to the Party and to Republican Lites.
I share your frustration but I am being a realist in this situation, anyway. The Green Party should run for offices and implement change through the Democratic Party. We need more people in the Party such as the late great Sen. Paul Wellstone. We desperately need to stop this absolutely corrupted power behemoth: RNC.
