mushrooms
Just musing of course. I am always a bit stymied, flabbergasted by folks who seem to enjoy or even embrace with pleasure the distruction of our planet. Another truck or suv for personal transportation, just seems unpatriotic. The empirical evidence is convincing. Even bush &co. agree that climate change must be addressed. How can more vehicles that use increasing amounts of fuel be good for america? We switched to a tdi jetta running bio-diesel at my house. Guess what, it has more power than the gas burner we traded for it. If you didn't know it was a tdi ahead of time, you could not tell from driving . You would wonder where all the power was coming from. Bio-d is a renewable source. I seem to hear about the farmers that go broke alot. Growing fuel feed stock is rapidly replacing many traditional crops. The demand far outstrips the supply. Here is a means to reduce dependence and increase domestic security. It can put a losing operation in the black as well. With so many current technologies at hand, kinda makes me wonder why the energy bill does not support renewables beyond lip service. Of course the power industry would like for us all to embrace nuclear. No solution for the waste. I won't spend any time on the moral aspect. It is not in the best interest of the US. So I have to ask why is the US going down the road toward climatic degredation? We have the means to change the course. We have the technologies that are already developed. No not some off in the distant crap, but now! Did you know that the majority, that's right the majority of new cars sold in south america are flex-fuel vehicles! Alcohol and e85 blends make up the bulk of new vehicle fuel.Ethanol is a renewable fuel source. Wonder why venezuela has become so important to the US? They are a major exporter of oil. The majority of new vehicles sold in the US? Well they are not flex-fuel ready, but with a sensor and flash electronics upgrade can easily be made compliant. Lot of corn that would otherwise be wasted or stored for sillage can be used for fuel feedstock.
I urge you to go up on the mountain and listen to the existing windfarm. You may wonder why we haven't built a boatload more of them, they are quiet!
