Quote
"The national government will maintain and defend the foundations on which the power of our nation rests. It will offer strong protection to Christianity as the very basis of our collective morality. Today Christians stand at the head of our country. We want to fill our culture again with the Christian spirit. We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theatre, and in the press-in short, we want to burn out the poison of immorality which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of liberal excess during recent years."
An Interesting definition follows:
"In reality, given the current state of the US, I'd say that the G.O.P. is more "liberal" than the DNC (meaning the "Democratic Party", I believe) simply because it's the G.O.P. that's trying to change much of the 'status quo' here in the U.S., by banning abortion, bringing prayer back to schools, cutting taxes, (killing Social Security, Medicare, the Estate Tax, Public Schools, Public Television, Bankruptcy protection, Privacy Rights), etc. I would have to label that as quite "Liberal" given that the DNC is trying to maintain more of the status quo."
Then Helen Keller quotes we just do not hear much anymore:
"I had once believed that we were all masters of our fate-that we could mould our lives into any form we pleased . . . I had overcome deafness and blindness sufficiently to be happy, and I supposed that anyone could come out victorious if he threw himself valiantly into life's struggle. But as I went more and more about the country I learned that I had spoken with assurance on a subject I knew little about. I forgot that I owed my success partly to the advantages of my birth and environment . . . Now, however, I learned that the power to rise in the world is not within the reach of everyone."
