No power?
We as a nation are hurdling toward disaster. We rely on countries hostile to us( although they are not hostile to our money, more on another post) to supply our oil. We acknowledge the problem exsist but refuse to address any real solution. The last republican idea was only evidence of the failure and complicity of the republicans. Conservation is and must be the nations first priority. We cannot continue to drive fuel hogs. Second we must begin to invest in the alternative fuel markets. I know bushco has given this lip service. ( I would remind you that most of the scientist working on alt.fuels at our own oak ridge labs were layoff by bushco budget cuts, to pay for tax breaks, along with social services but that is another post) I understand that a few were hastily rehired so w could have a photo opportunity. Third part of the issue has been the public ignorance of alt fuels. Here locally we get a bit of press(many thanks) but not nationally.
Fourth China is now in the catbird seat. The chinese determine the price of oil these day and into the forseeable future. China has a growing economy and the funds(they can thank the U.S. consumers mad dash to wallyworld for a big piece of it) Odd how americans are so enthusiatic to fund our own decline.
The green party supports a carbon tax to address the climate problem fueled by our excessive emissions. We must take up the mindset for sustainabilty. We must directly address energy , transportation, and agriculture. We cannot continue down this road except to our ruin. Here is a link to get more info.
