christian non-violence
This story recently caught my eye. I do not write as well as Calvin. I am struct by the simple way he asks "who would jesus bomb?"
Who's Taking Blame for Christian Violence?
by Calvin White
Now that imams in Britain and Canada are standing up and publicly condemning terrorist acts as anti-Muslim and against the teachings in the Qur'an, I wonder if pressure might be put on Christian leaders to take a similar stand.
Contrary to what some might like to insist, Christianity is not the religion of "an eye for an eye" but it is the religion of Jesus, who refined those earlier directions and distilled the ten commandments into two. One was to "love thy neighbor as thyself." Pretty definitive isn't it? As is the edict of turning the other cheek.
Jesus expected to be betrayed. He expected to be arrested by the authorities. There was no exhortations to prepare for battle. There was no bloody attempt to stop the proceedings.
Even as Jesus was brutalized while carrying his own crucifixion cross and being nailed onto the timbers, there was no violent counterforce from his disciples. Not even an outcry.
No matter where one reads in the accounts of Jesus, the only conclusion one can come to is that Jesus was about love.
So where are the Christian leaders when it comes to violent actions by our Western leaders? Where are the televangelists, who every Sunday take over the airwaves to trumpet the message of Jesus, when it comes to taking on bunker busting bombs and mass carnage?

NSA Bill Performs a Patriot Act

I thought the Patriot act was an abomination, we haven't seen anything yet.
Read the article in Wired.
Or better if you feel inclined read the bill
Or read it in the NewStandard
What about the Ivory tower law schools Even they don't seem to happy.
Bottom line is the USA is getting sold out. If this bill makes it we will not be the USA any longer, but some military/ police state.
Just kiss the fourth amendment GOODBYE !

Who would Jesus bomb?
Again on this day of rememberance THE question. I can only add my voice to the question. We must teach others to keep blood off their hands.
I have included the words of more who have served our country faithfully.
“What a cruel thing is war: to separate and destroy families and friends, and mar the purest joys and happiness God has granted us in this world; to fill our hearts with hatred instead of love for our neighbors, and to devastate the fair face of this beautiful world.” Robert E.Lee
"It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. " William T. Sherman
There never was a time when, in my opinion, some way could not be found to prevent the drawing of the sword.” Ulysses S. Grant
“The powers in charge kept us in a perpetual state of fear – kept us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor – with the cry of grave national emergency. Always there has been some terrible evil to gobble us up if we did not blindly rally behind it by furnishing the exorbitant sums demanded. Yet, in retrospect, these disasters seem never to have happened, seem never to have been quite real.”
“Our country is now geared to an arms economy bred in an artificially induced psychosis of war hysteria and an incessant propaganda of fear.” Douglass
MacArthur
“There is no glory in battle worth the blood it costs. If all that Americans want is security, they can go to prison. They’ll have enough to eat, a bed and a roof over their heads. But if an American wants to preserve his dignity and his equality as a human being, he must not bow his neck to any dictatorial government.”
Dwight D. Eisenhower
“Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war that we know about peace, more about killing that we know about living. Wars can be prevented just as surely as they can be provoked, and we who fail to prevent them, must share the guilt for the dead.”
Omar N. Bradley

Children told to stay off RADIOACTIVE Beach
It just really makes you wonder why bush co. is so worried about the iranians!?

A beach near Dounreay power station has become Britain's first officially acknowledged radioactive public landscape after pieces of plutonium fuel rods were found there.
Signs warning visitors of the radiation dangers have been posted on the beach, and last month a potentially carcinogenic 4mm fragment of fuel rod was found — the latest in a series of discoveries involving radioactive material.
Last month, the plant was fined £2 million over a radioactive spillage last year, and the past decade has seen a series of well-documented safety failures at Dounreay.
These include the loss of 375lb (170kg) of weapons-grade uranium, enough to make several bombs, as well as serious contamination of employees.

The Immigration crisis is a sham
The so called crisis is nothing more than a sham,"hey look over their while all these domestic and international disasters fester. Endless war in Iraq, illegal spying on american citizens, a disasterous perscription plan, the utter failure of bushco. even a year after katrina. We do not have an immigration problem.
The result of corporate greed. Republican and Democrat failure, selling their votes to the highest contributors. Immigrants are not the bad guys. Most come here for the same reasons, to escape the oppressing poverty of thier homes, or to escape prosecution.
What we have is a NAFTA problem. We are seeing the results in floods of immigrants because of "The North American Free Trade Agreement," passed in 1993 it has drained the Mexican economy, destroyed small Mexican businesses, dispossesed farmers from their kand uprooted workers, and depressed wages for the benefit of U.S. "low wage conservative" based corporations.
WE will be the next to suffer under the low wage conservative greed.
Repeal NAFTA, start addressing the problems of real people.
Vote Green!
